Glee for a Gloomy Day

Thoughts for this Rainy Morning

Lets Lift Our Spirits

I don't know about where you are but here the weather here is absolutely miserable- cold, rainy, and all in all gloomy. As usual I woke up far before my alarm and was not too happy about it this morning. I quickly discovered that the weather outside was less then desirable and I had no want to venture out into it. But as I sad in my earlier post, "Baby It's Cold Outside," we must endure the bad weather and continue on. In order to push through this disgusting weather I have decided that is necessary to bring some glee to this gloomy day. I'd like to start us off with a positive morning affirmation-

I greet this day with an open heart and an open mind.

So maybe the weather is less than ideal but it doesn't mean we should simply write this day off or decide from the start this is going to be awful. Just because it's a gloomy day does not mean that it needs to impact our spirits or prevents us from having a good and fulfilling day. Lets keep this affirmation tucked away in our minds and welcome the days with a willingness to see what it may bring or potentially has to offer us. We can't change the weather but we can control the way we choose to look at and respond to it. Yes, we could avoid the rain, wind, and cold by snuggling up in our beds for the duration of the day. But where will that get us? What does that say about us? Are we going to let a little rain ruin the potential that today has? Are we going to let the dreary day alter our moods? Are we going to let mother nature stand in our way? I don't know about you but I definitely will not be allowing a little rain stop me from leaving my apartment and living my life.
Me in my rainy day attire-
The weather can test my endurance but it will soon discover that it is no match for me. Instead of succumbing to today's gloominess I have bundled up in my cozy oversized sweater and fur lined jacket, pulled my leg warmers up to my knees, and am sporting my tall rain boots that make me walk like a duck. I am fully equipped to face this gloomy day in my warm, rainy day garb. And I am gradually lifting my spirits so that I am mentally prepared to manage this weather that makes me yearn for my quilt and cuddly stuffed animals. So lets get us fully prepared for this gloomy day by lifting our spirits with some much needed glee.
(I need to check this book out !)
In order to do this I would like to share with you some quotes, pictures, and songs that always manage to bring a smile to my face. None of the following link together in any real way except for the pure fact that I enjoy them! I hope they manage to lift your spirits in the same way that they do mine!

“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life's realities.”

- Dr. Seuss

Why is there a cat in a stroller? I don't know but it always makes me laugh !

"I don't care what you think about me. I don't think about you at all."

- Coco Chanel

Cosmopolitan Cupcake ! Cupcakes and alcohol- no complaints here !

“If the person you are talking to doesn't appear to be listening, be patient. It may simply be that he has a small piece of fluff in his ear.”

- A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh

Jonathan Adler decor always manages to perk me up !

The absurd contents of my beading collection-D

"Adults are just obsolete children and the hell with them."

- Dr. Seuss

"You live but once; you might as well be amusing."

- Coco Chanel

Paris, Eiffel Tower

"Paris is always a good idea."

- Audrey Hepburn

Why is the drawn in a New York McDonalds?

"We all live with the objective of being happy; our lives are all different and yet the same."

- Anne Frank

As Anne Frank so wiseley puts it, we all desire the same thing: happiness. I hope this post provided you with a little glee for this gloomy day and helped you along on your path to happiness. I know that writing it and be able to share some of my favorite silly pictures and quotes with you definitely helped lift my spirits and brought multiple smiles to my face! If you need a boost throughout the day don't fear coming back to this post if it helped you initially. There is no shame in taking advantage of resources and tools that we find useful. Also don't discredit the small things in your own life that help bring you happiness and lift your spirits- songs, pictures, memories, quotes, stickers, a movie, sparkly objects, anything! We all need a little push on rainy days like to day. Use what ever you have to bolster your endurance and to help you be open about the possibilities that today holds. Mother nature can't stop us!

Stay dry and stay smiling!
